I wrote this song at first, without choruses. It was one of those songs that I wrote while, figuratively speaking, turning off my computer. I was just about to go home when the melody turned up in my head. And about an hour later I had gotten the lyrics down and everything. The word Elysium was something that I had picked up from Gladiator, you know when Russel Crow’s rallying the soldiers in the beginning, it is more or less an equivalent of paradise. The entire lyric (and song) is dedicated to my girlfriend, so it is really one of those ‘love songs’. The vocals of the demo is also pretty much a one take, it was very spontaneous. When Patric suggested the melody of the chorus, I was really skeptical but as I got the lyrics down and really listened to it with an open mind, I loved it. The song became so much more multi facetted and realistic.

When we went into rehearsals of the song it really went to another place. With the drums, the vibe was great! A lot more suggestive and mysterious, with the chorus it also wasn’t as unbiased as before, it got a little mor depth and realism. It really reflects our relationship. This song is very personal to me.
